Monsieur Edward Gordon Craig
By Edward Gordon Craig and Narguess Majd
2009 - 2012
Synopsis:
dward Gordon Craig wrote a certain number of texts for puppets called The Drama for Fools. He also had a collection of English paper theatres (toy theatres) and he devoted a part of one of the volumes of his famous journal, The Mask, to this subject. The paper theatre devoted Papierthéâtre Company could not resist the temptation to use this technique to perform two parodies of Shakespeare's plays by Craig: Once Upon a Time nd Romeo & Juliet. The show has three parts:
1. Once Upon a Time, based on King Lear. An attempt to adapt "The Screens" theory to paper theatre and an effort to stay loyal to Craig's text!
2. Monsieur Edward Gordon Craig, a Life. A presentation of Craig's life and work using photos and documents.
. Romeo & Juliet which mocks both the original play and the controversies it raised. This script brings together authors, feminist heroines, famous directors and Juliet who cares about nothing less than she cares about Romeo's love.
